A staffing platform for temporary dental staff, taken from zero to live web and mobile apps on one Firebase backend.
Overview
TalentCiti is a product we built for BiOrbit, LLC. It connects dental practices with temporary dental staff. A practice that is short a hygienist or an assistant for a day needs cover quickly, and the professionals filling those shifts need a simple way to find and accept work. TalentCiti brought both sides together in one product, with a web app and a mobile app sharing a single backend.
The Challenge
There was no product and no engineering team, only the idea and the domain knowledge. The platform had to serve two very different users, practices posting shifts and professionals picking them up, and work on the web and on phones from day one.
Our Role
We managed the whole product from zero to one: scoping, architecture, design decisions, engineering, and releases. We built the web app in React and the mobile app in React Native, with Firebase as the shared backend for authentication, data, and real-time updates, so both apps stayed in sync without a separate server to run and maintain.
Achievements
Two-sided product, one codebase mindset
Practices and dental professionals needed different experiences, but the data underneath was the same: shifts, availability, and bookings. Firebase gave both the React web app and the React Native mobile app one source of truth with real-time updates, so a shift posted on the web showed up on phones immediately.
A backend you don't have to babysit
A lean team meant the backend had to run itself. Firebase handled authentication, storage, and hosting, which kept the operational load low and let the effort go into the product rather than servers.
Owning the full product, end to end
We made and carried every decision, from how a shift gets posted to how the apps get released. That kind of ownership is still how we work today: small senior teams that take a product from an idea to something people use.
