Overview

Billable is our own product: invoicing, quotes, time tracking, and client management in one place for freelancers, consultants, and one-person businesses. Instead of juggling spreadsheets and half a dozen tools, a solo owner can track time, turn it into an invoice, send it, and see exactly what's outstanding, overdue, and paid — all from a single calm dashboard.

The challenge

Solo business owners are stuck between spreadsheets that don't scale and heavyweight accounting software built for finance teams. We wanted something in between: fast enough to run your whole billing workflow in minutes, but complete enough to handle real needs like multi-currency clients, contractor payments, and payment reminders — without the enterprise bloat or price tag.

The solution

We own Billable top to bottom — product, design, and engineering. We built it as an installable web app, so it works across desktop and mobile and keeps working offline. It generates invoices and quotes with branded PDF export, tracks time with a timer or manual entries, bills in multiple currencies with automatic exchange conversion, and automates payment reminders. We priced it as a flat $9 a month with every feature included, and ship it as a real, running SaaS.

From tracked time to paid invoice

The core loop is deliberately short: start a timer or log hours against a project, then turn that time straight into an invoice or quote, export a branded PDF, and send it. Clients, projects, and payment status all live together, so the whole billing workflow happens in one place instead of across a spreadsheet, a timer app, and an inbox.

Built for real solo businesses

Solo doesn't mean simple. Billable handles multi-currency billing with automatic exchange conversion, tracks contractor payments, automates payment reminders, and gives real-time visibility into what's outstanding, overdue, and paid. As an installable app it works offline and on any device, so the tool is there whether you're at your desk or sitting with a client.

Owning the full product lifecycle

Because Billable is ours, we make every call — from the pricing page to the payment logic behind it. We designed it, engineered it on Astro and Supabase, wired up Polar.sh for checkout and subscriptions, and shipped it live at billable.io as a flat $9-a-month product. It's another example of us taking a product from idea to something real, paid, and maintained.
